This is my assignment on the codes and conventions of different genres.

Continuity Cut

This is our short film, we made this to demonstrate what skills we had learned about techniques and cinematography during the course of a week and we tasked to use a range of techniques and then we edited to make it smooth and have continuity. Before filming our group planned our shots, what the story will be about and what techniques will use. We were aware of mise en scene and used it to full extent.

Initial Assessment Task

In my group of me, Deacon, Karim and joseph we filmed a promotional video for Sunderland College Bede. As a group we decided to work as a group make our video guide. In this video guide we showed off the college a lot different locations such as the, the library, studio, music rooms, theater and reception etc. We ensured the whole group were working together and equally evolved by each choosing different shots of the college, we would use and filming them ourselves. We did not encounter any issues regarding the filming processes since we all knew what we were doing. We didn’t do much pre-production so we weren’t as prepared as we should have been, but we will change that in the future.

 The majority of our camera shots were simple pans showing of the college so that we could be quick and effective getting them done. Most of our shots were similar. In the future I would like to more technical and difficult shots to take, and we also would like to film on a camera.

 When we edited we used Adobe Premier Pro and we encountered problem with importing our footage because premier pro does not support the .MOV format and our footage was in. To change this, we downloaded a software that can convert those files into .mp4 and this worked because Premier Pro supports the .mp4 format. In our promotional video we used tools such as: cut tool, text tool and the marker tool. We used the marker tool to mark where the songs beat peaks so we can make each clip transition on the beat.

If I could re-do this task, I would like to take more time to plan the cinematography and each shot. Also, I would like to get more shots of the college since we didn’t cover college as much as I would like.

In our group project we made a promotional video for Sunderland College Bede.

 I filmed it with the help of Karim Katouce. I did this because we needed shots for our promotional video. Overall I think that this project was easy except editing because i'm not very good at it. , I made the choice to get the best shots I could get, and i'm happy with the finished project.I worked with Karim Katouce, Deacon Fletcher and Joseph Burton I believe this was a could and fun to work with group.
